Thallus to 5 cm wide, crustose to subfoliose, membranous, smooth to irregularly rugose, sometimes fenestrate, matt or glossy, rarely with small isidia-like nodules, olive-green, sometimes bluish green or yellowish brown; margin often finely lobulate; lobules 1–2 mm broad, short, narrow, imbricate or not, flat or caniculate. Apothecia scattered to dense, 1–1.5 mm wide, appressed to sessile with constricted base, sometimes pedicellate; disc flat, matt or glossy, epruinose, pale red to dark red; thalline exciple thin to moderately thick, entire, smooth to rugose, usually not prominent, persistent, sometimes disappearing. Asci 40–65 × 10.5–20 µm. Ascospores 26–50 × 1.5–5 µm, linear-oblong, straight or curved, narrowing towards one or both ends, 4-celled, not constricted at septa. Pycnidia common, to 170 µm wide, laminal and marginal; pycnidial gel hyaline to pale yellow. Conidia 3.5–5 × 1–1.5 µm, straight, slightly swollen towards ends. | ||
Widely distributed throughout tropical and temperate regions, but rare in Australia (Qld). Grows on bark. | ||
