| Thallus on bark, foliose, closely to loosely adnate, 1–8 cm wide, 70–100 µm thick, dark leaden grey to bluish. Lobes rotund to broadly oblong, 2–6 mm wide; margins entire, ±isidiate. Upper surface smooth to roughened, matt or slightly shining, isidiate; isidia ±dense, cylindrical, clavate or rarely ±flattened, mainly simple, concolorous with thallus or darker. Lower surface naked or with scattered rhizine tufts, rarely isidiate. Apothecia rare, sessile or subpedicellate, 0.5–2 mm wide; disc concave to flat or finally convex; thalline exciple pale grey to cream; ±isidiate. Ascospores ellipsoidal, sparingly muriform, 18–27 × 6–10 µm; apices acute or rarely subobtuse. Pycnidia not seen. | ||
| Probably a cosmopolitan species. Appears to be widespread in Australia (N.T., Qld, N.S.W., Lord Howe Is., Norfolk Is., Vic. and Tas.) although uncommon in most locations. Several atypical specimens with darker thallus and smaller apothecia have been collected from Norfolk Is. and Lord Howe Is., while a similar specimen has been collected from Melville Is., N.T. Grows on bark. | ||
