| Thallus closely appressed throughout, forming rosettes, seldom exceeding 1 cm wide. Main lobes inflated, usually hollow, shortly radiating or disorientated, to 3 mm long and 0.6 mm wide; surface very fragile; lobe ends often widened, often nodulose at margins, sometimes with scattered lateral toe-like extensions. Upper surface appearing glazed, chestnut-brown to olive-brown. Lower surface black, but not spreading laterally or over upper surface. Cavity white, cottony-cobwebby. Perforations absent. Isidia numerous, laminal and marginal, coarse, at first rounded, becoming flattened, elongate and then decumbent and unorientated over centre of thallus, often obscuring main lobes. Apothecia and pycnidia unknown. CHEMISTRY: cortex K+ yellow (atranorin); medulla P-, K-, KC-, C-, UV- (protolichesterinic and lichesterinic acids). | ||
| A very rare endemic species known from only north-western Tas., where it occurs on canopy twigs of Eucryphia lucida in thamnic rainforest. It associates with Coccotrema cucurbitula (Mont.) Müll. Arg. and sooty mould. | ||
