| Thallus foliose, loosely attached, 2–10 cm wide, often with a dense matt of entangled blue-black rhizohyphae projecting from margins. Lobes thick, somewhat coriaceous, irregularly laciniate, 1–5 mm wide, discrete to adjacent with ±crenate margins, noticeably thickened and often white-cobwebby. Upper surface irregularly and often sharply wrinkled, minutely scabrid in parts, slate blue when wet, greyish fawn when dry. Lower surface ecorticate, white to pale buff with entangled blue-black rhizohyphae. Apothecia frequent, laminal or often marginal, sessile, 0.5–2mm wide; disc flat to convex, yellow to red-brown; thalline exciple crenulate, prominent. Ascospores 15–19 × 9–10 µm, often apiculate at one end and then to 25 µm long; exosporium nodulose. CHEMISTRY: P+ orange. Pannarin and ±ursolic acid. | ||
| Occurs on bark. Rarely collected in tropical-subtropical forests of Qld, N.S.W. and Norfolk Is. A widespread subtropical species. | ||
