Thallus subfoliose to squamulose, laciniate, irregularly spreading, ±flat, to 5 cm wide, loosely attached, without isidia. Lobes to 2 mm wide, ±discrete at margins, ±imbricate centrally, rather thick and stiff. Upper surface distinctly scabrid, particularly towards periphery, grey-buff. Apothecia not seen in Australian material, elsewhere usually common and numerous, 0.5–1 mm wide, dark brownish, only with narrow proper exciple. Ascospores 12–15 × 6–7 µm. | ||
Very rare in Tas. in humid scrub, growing over mosses on a eucalypt stump. Also in New Zealand and southern South America. | ||
