Thallus verruculose to verrucose, thin, yellowish white to yellowish grey, epruinose. Soredia absent. Prothallus not visible or whitish grey. Apothecia sessile, 0.5–1.0 mm diam.; disc pale red-brown to orange-brown, epruinose to slightly grey-pruinose; margin concolorous with the thallus, entire, ±verrucose, flexuose, sorediate or not. Cortex hyaline, inspersed with numerous small crystals, 15–25 µm thick laterally and 20–30 µm thick basally, disappearing when sorediate. Amphithecium with large and small crystals (melacarpella-type). Parathecium hyaline, without crystals, 10–15 µm thick. Epihymenium reddish brown, with small crystals soluble in KOH (chlarotera-type), c. 10–15 µm thick. Hymenium hyaline, inspersed with small oil droplets. Hypothecium and subhymenium hyaline. Paraphyses sparingly branched and thickened apically. Ascospores ellipsoidal, 9.5–12.0 × 5.0–7.0 µm. CHEMISTRY: Thallus and apothecial margin K+ yellow, C–, Pd+ pale orange; containing usnic acid (major) and atranorin (minor). | ||
Known only from south-western W.A. where it occurs on bark of Acacia and Agonis in dry-sclerophyll forest. | ||
