Differs from subsp. broccha in lacking the stictic acid chemosyndrome. Chemistry: Thallus and apothecial margin K+ yellow to reddish, C+ orange to reddish, Pd+ yellowish orange; containing 2,5,7-trichloro-3-O-methylnorlichexanthon (major), atranorin (submajor), ±barbatic acid (submajor), 5,7-dichloro-3-O-methylnorlichexanthone (sub-major), arthothelin (minor), asemone (minor), chloroatranorin (minor), ±7-chloronorliche-xanthone (minor), ±2,5-dichloronorlichexanthone (minor), ±2,7-dichloronorlichexanthone (minor), 5,7-dichloronorlichexanthone (minor), ±gyrophoric acid (minor), isoarthothelin (minor), ±lecanoric acid (minor), ±4-O-demethylbarbatic acid (minor), 3-O-methylasemone (minor), ±methyl barbatate (minor), ±thiophanic acid (minor) and 2,5,7-trichloroliche-xanthone (minor). | ||
Occurs in N.S.W., A.C.T., Vic. and Tas. Outside Australia this subspecies is known from southern South America (Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego) and mountains in New Guinea and New Zealand. | ||
