  Thallus thin, slightly bullate, verrucose to verruculose, yellowish white to yellowish grey or whitish grey, epruinose, sometimes glossy. Soredia absent. Prothallus not visible. Apothecia sessile, 0.5–2.0 mm diam.; disc blackish brown, epruinose or slightly whitish grey-pruinose; margin concolorous with the thallus, thin, entire. Cortex indistinct, hyaline, inspersed with numerous small crystals, 15–20 µm thick laterally and 20–25 µm thick basally. Amphithecium with small crystals soluble in KOH (allophana-type). Parathecium hyaline, 10–15 µm thick, with numerous small crystals soluble in KOH. Epihymenium greenish brown, c. 10–15 µm thick, K+ greenish, with crystals soluble in KOH. Hymenium, subhymenium and hypothecium hyaline. Paraphyses sparingly branched and thickened apically. Ascospores ellipsoidal, 11.0–14.5 × 4.5–6.5 µm. CHEMISTRY: Thallus and apothecial margin K+ yellow, C+ orange, Pd+ pale orange; containing atranorin (major), asemone (major), isoarthothelin (major), 2,5,7-trichloro-3-O-methylnorlichexanthone (major), 5,7-dichloro-3-O-methylnorlichexanthone (major), arthothelin (minor), chloroatranorin (minor), 2,7-dichloronorlichexanthone (minor), 5,7-dichloronorlichexanthone (minor), 3-O-methylasemone (minor) and 2,5,7-trichloroliche-xanthone (minor).
     
  A rare, endemic species on siliceous rocks on mountains in south-western W.A. and Vic.
