Thallus thin, continuous to dispersed-verrucose, yellowish white to yellowish grey, epruinose, sometimes glossy. Soredia absent. Prothallus blackish brown. Apothecia sessile, 0.7–1.4 (–2.0) mm diam.; disc pale brown to wax-coloured, epruinose or slightly bluish grey-pruinose; margin concolorous with the thallus, thin, entire, ±verrucose to crenulate. Cortex hyaline, gelatinous, inspersed with small crystals, 25–35 µm thick laterally and 30–40 µm thick basally. Amphithecium with large and small crystals (melacarpella-type). Parathecium hyaline, 10–15 µm thick, with numerous small crystals soluble in KOH. Epihymenium yellowish brown to grey-brown, c. 10–15 µm thick, with crystals (chlarotera-type); pigmentation soluble in KOH. Hymenium and subhymenium hyaline. Hypothecium yellowish. Paraphyses sparingly branched and not thickened apically. Ascospores ellipsoidal to broadly ellipsoidal, 12.0–16.5 × 7.0–9.5 µm. CHEMISTRY: Thallus and apothecial margin K+ yellow, C+ orange, Pd+ yellow; containing arthothelin (major), atranorin (major), chloroatranorin (minor), 2’-O-methylperlatolic acid (major), isoarthothelin (minor), 2’-O-methylhyperlatolic acid (minor), 2’-O-methyliso-hyperlatolic acid (minor), 2’-O-methylsuperlatolic acid (minor), thiophanic acid (minor) and usnic acid (minor). | ||
Occurs on bark in north-eastern Qld. Also in Papua New Guinea and Indonesia. | ||
