| Thallus verrucose to verruculose, whitish grey to yellowish white. Soredia absent. Prothallus blackish brown. Apothecia sessile, 0.6–1.4 mm diam.; disc brown to red-brown, epruinose; margin prominent, sometimes showing an excipular ring of parathecial tissue, entire, flexuose. Cortex indistinct, inspersed with small crystals, gelatinous, 10–20 µm thick laterally, 20–40 µm thick basally. Amphithecium with small and large crystals (melacarpella-type). Upper part of hypothecium yellowish; lower part reddish brown. Parathecium hyaline, without crystals, c.15–25 µm thick. Epihymenium red-brown, with crystals; pigmentation and crystals soluble in KOH (chlarotera-type). Hymenium hyaline. Paraphyses not or slightly thickened apically. Ascospores ellipsoidal, 11.5–16.5 × 6.0–8.0 µm. CHEMISTRY: Thallus and apothecial margin K+ yellow, C–, Pd+ pale yellow; containing atranorin (major), chloroatranorin (minor), unknown secalonic acid derivative (minor) and an unknown fatty acid (minor). |  |

| Occurs in northern N.T. and Qld; grows on the bark of various trees, including palms and Ficus spp. in Eucalyptus-dominated woodland, vine forest, dry evergreen forest and at rainforest margins up to an altitude of 1000 m. Also in SE Asia. | ||
