Apothecia sessile to constricted at the base, 0.4–1.0 mm diam.; disc dark red-brown to blackish brown, epruinose or slightly pruinose; margin concolorous with the thallus, thin, entire, ±verrucose to verruculose. Cortex hyaline, inspersed with small crystals, c. 20 µm thick laterally and 20–25 µm thick basally. Amphithecium with large crystals insoluble in KOH (pulicaris-type). Parathecium hyaline, 10–15 µm thick, with numerous small crystals soluble in KOH. Epihymenium red-brown, c. 10–15 µm thick, with numerous crystals (chlarotera-type); pigmentation rapidly soluble in KOH. Hymenium, subhymenium and hypothecium hyaline.
