| Thallus of dispersed granules to dispersed-verrucose, yellowish grey to greenish grey, epruinose. Soredia absent. Prothallus not visible. Apothecia sessile, 0.3–0.8 mm diam.; disc pale red-brown, not or slightly pruinose when immature; margin yellowish green, prominent, thin to thick, verrucose, becoming flexuose or, frequently, excluded. Cortex hyaline, indistinct, inspersed with small crystals, 15–30 µm thick laterally and basally. Amphithecium with small crystals soluble in KOH. Parathecium hyaline, lacking crystals. Epihymenium olivaceous brown to reddish brown, c. 10 µm thick, with numerous crystals soluble in KOH. Hymenium, subhymenium and hypothecium hyaline. Paraphyses sparingly branched and thickened apically. Ascospores ellipsoidal, 6.5–11.5 × 4.0–6.5 µm. CHEMISTRY: Thallus and apothecial margin K–, C–, Pd–; containing isousnic acid. |  |

| Lecanora saligna occurs on wood in S.A. and Qld; also known from temperate regions of both hemispheres. These are the first records of the speciesfrom Australia. | ||
