| Thallus rosette-forming, loosely attached, 2–5 cm wide. Lobes short and narrow, 0.5–2.5 cm long, 1–2 (–5) mm wide, concave to plane or shallowly convex, subdichotomously branching and ±discrete at margins to imbricate or ±rounded at margins and complex-imbricate centrally; lobe margins slightly thickened below, subascending, sinuous above, crenate, notched or minutely lobulate, with conspicuous raised yellow pseudocyphellae. Upper surface glaucous blue or greyish when dry, dark grey-blue when wet, shallowly to strongly reticulate-faveolate near margins, irregularly ridged centrally, patchily white-tomentose, maculate; without isidia, phyllidia, pseudocyphellae or soredia. Maculae prominent, yellowish white, laminal and marginal, effigurate to ±reticulate (×10 lens). Medulla yellow. Photobiont Nostoc. Lower surface pale yellow to buff, thinly tomentose throughout. Pseudocyphellae rather sparse, scattered, minute, yellow. Apothecia unknown. CHEMISTRY: Pulvinic acid, pulvinic dilactone, calycin, 2α,3β-diacetoxystictane, 2α,3β-diacetoxystictane-22-ol, stictane-3β,22α-diol (trace), 2α-acetoxystictane-3β,22α-diol, 3β-acetoxystictane-2α,22α-diol, stictane-2α,3β,22α-triol, pseudocyphellarin A and 2'-O-methyl-pseudocyphellarin A. |  |
