| Thallus adnate, to 2–4 cm wide. Lobes linear to sublinear-elongate, di- or trichotomously branched, 0.5–1 mm wide; margins with dense bulbate cilia forming a mat; cilia shiny, with forked apices. Upper surface pale grey to grey-green, flat or slightly convex, shiny, emaculate, becoming cracked; isidia sparse to moderately dense, cylindrical, simple, with black apices, less than 0.3 mm high. Medulla white. Lower surface black with pale brown zone at margin; rhizines moderately dense to dense, simple to dichotomously branched, black. Apothecia very rare, c. 1 mm wide (only immature apothecia seen), with coronate thalline exciple. Ascospores not developed. Pycnidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: cortex K+ yellow; medulla K-, C-, KC-, P-; containing atranorin and chloroatranorin. |  |

| This endemic species is found on bark on mangroves and trees in coastal forests in southern Qld and N.S.W.; also in Lord Howe Is. | ||
