| Thallus loosely adnate to adnate, to 5–10 cm wide. Lobes often imbricate, sublinear to irregular, subirregularly branched, 2–6 mm wide; margins entire. Upper surface whitish to greenish grey, flat to slightly convex, dull, usually strongly maculate, without soredia and pustules; isidia cylindrical, erect, simple to branched. Medulla white. Lower surface moderately to densely rhizinate; rhizines shiny, richly dichotomously branched, often forming a thick mat visible along margins from above. Apothecia rare, sessile, 2–7 mm wide. Ascospores 8–10 × 4–6 µm. Pycnidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: cortex K+ yellow, UV-; medulla K-, C-, KC-, P-; containing atranorin, chloroatranorin, protolichesterinic acid (major) and unidentified fatty acids (major/minor). | ||
| Rare in eastern Qld; also known from Papua New Guinea, SE Asia, Central and South America. Grows on bark and rock. | ||
