| Thallus ±dispersed, with lobate centre or becoming weakly areolate, to 2–4 cm wide. Lobes contiguous, flat, subirregular, rather short and irregularly branched, 0.2–0.5 mm wide, minutely lobulate along margins. Upper surface pale yellowish green, shiny to dull, pruinose at lobe apices, without soredia and isidia. Lower surface pale brown with a well developed spongy layer of rhizohyphae and poorly developed lamella-like loose aggregations of rhizohyphae. Apothecia initially aspicilioid, mostly emergent and sessile at maturity, 0.3–0.5 mm wide. Ascospores 10–14 × 5–6 µm. Pycnidia common. Conidia 9–11 × 1 µm. CHEMISTRY: cortex K-, UV-; medulla K-, C-, KC+ purple, P-; containing norlobaridone and usnic acid. | ||
