| Thallus loosely adnate, suborbicular, in patches up to 10 cm wide. Lobes linear or often constricted or moniliform, moderately to densely branched, branching mainly dichotomous near thallus edge, 0.5–2 mm wide. Upper surface bright yellowish green to pale greyish yellow, smooth, without isidia or soredia. Lower surface white; hypothallus rather loose, spongy, pale yellow-brown to dark red-brown or black; rhizines occasional to frequent, simple, pale at lobe margins. Apothecia absent to common, pedicellate, up to 1 cm wide; disc pale yellowish brown to dark red-brown; thalline exciple entire. Ascospores ovoid, 6–6.5 × 5–6 µm. Pycnidia common, shiny, visible at apices of lobes. Conidia bacilliform to subfusiform, 5–6.5 µm long. CHEMISTRY: cortex K-; medulla K-, C-, KC-, P-; contains usnic and divaricatic acids. |  |

| Occurs in N.S.W., A.C.T., Vic. and Tas.; also in New Zealand, southern Argentina and Chile. Grows on bark, rarely on mosses (and liverworts?). | ||
