  Thallus loosely adnate, forming rosettes, to 3–5 cm wide. Lobes conspicuously constricted at branch points, branching subdichotomous at thallus margins, ± imbricate centrally, 0.5–1 mm wide. Upper surface pale yellow to bright yellow-green, glossy at lobe apices, without soredia; isidia often densely crowded and papillate in centre, simple becoming branched, slightly expanded at apices. Lower surface yellow; hypothallus spongy, compact, dark brown to black, moniliform; rhizines common, simple or sparingly furcate, black. Apothecia rare, sessile, to 3 mm wide; disc red-brown; thalline exciple isidiate. Ascospores fabiform, 10–15 × 4–6 µm. Pycnidia scattered, laminal. CHEMISTRY: cortex K-; medulla K-, C-, KC-, P-; contains usnic and divaricatic acids.
     
  Occurs in W.A., S.A., Qld, N.S.W., Vic. and Tas.; also found in Sabah, East Malaysia and New Zealand. Grows on bark.
