| Thallus loosely adnate, membranaceous to coriaceous, to 5–15 cm wide. Lobes rounded, 5–15 mm wide; margins entire to weakly crenate, often suberect; cilia moderately dense to dense, conspicuous, 1–3 (–4) mm long. Upper surface pale grey to grey-green, emaculate, smooth to faintly foveolate, becoming cracked, sorediate, lacking isidia; soralia marginal, linear, often spreading submarginally. Medulla white in upper half, lower part yellow, orange-yellow or salmon pink. Lower surface black, with a broad, brown, erhizinate marginal zone; rhizines in groups, sparse, simple. Apothecia and pycnidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: cortex K+ yellow; medulla K-, C+ pink, KC+ pale red, P-; pigmented medulla K-; containing atranorin, chloroatranorin, gyrophoric acid and unidentified pigment. | ||
| A scattered species on bark of trees in coastal and hinterland forests of Qld and N.S.W.; also known from eastern and southern Africa, India, Sumatra, Papua New Guinea, Haiti and Brazil. | ||
