Thallus corticolous, foliose, adnate, irregularly spreading, to 3-5 cm wide. Lobes contiguous centrally to separate at the periphery, not or sparingly imbricate, linear-elongate, dichotomously to subdichotomously branched, 0.5-2.0 mm wide, elobulate; bulbate cilia dense, conspicuous, strongly inflated, to 1 mm long. Upper surface yellow-green, flat to weakly convex, smooth, emaculate, shiny at the apices, without isidia. Medulla white. Lower surface brown to dark brown; rhizines moderately dense, simple or occasionally dichotomously branched, coarse, brown to black. Apothecia common, adnate, 1-3 mm wide; disc more or less flat or shallowly concave, cinnamon-brown; thalline exciple markedly coronate to subcoronate, retrorsely rhizinate at base. Ascospores ellipsoidal, eight per ascus, 7-8 x 4-5 µm. Pycnidia common, flat to slightly emergent, punctiform, to 0.1 mm wide. Conidia bifusiform, 6-8 x 1 µm. CHEMISTRY: Cortex K-; medulla K+ yellow-red, C-, P+ orange; containing usnic acid (major), ±atranorin (trace), norstictic acid (major), connorstictic acid (trace), hyposalazinic acid (trace). | ||
