| Thallus foliose,adnate, to 3 cm wide. Lobes contiguous centrally to separate at periphery, ±imbricate, sublinear-elongate, dichotomously branched, 0.5–1 (–1.5) mm wide, elobulate; cilia moderately dense, tapering to markedly inflated basally, simple, to 0.4 mm long, black. Upper surface pale green to yellow-green, flat to convex, weakly maculate, lacking isidia; older lobes extensively cracked; lobe apices shiny. Lower surface pale brown; rhizines dense, elongate, simple or rarely sparsely furcate-branched, black. Apothecia common, 0.8–2 mm wide; disc shallowly concave then ±flat or slightly convex, dark brown; thalline exciple thin, persistent, weakly dentate, ecoronate, retrorsely rhizinate. Ascospores ellipsoidal, 5–8 × 3–4.5 µm. Pycnidia immersed, punctiform, minute, to 0.05 mm wide. Conidia bifusiform, 5.5–6.5 × 0.7–0.8 µm. CHEMISTRY: cortex K-, UV-; medulla K+ yellow, C-, P+ orange; containing usnic acid, stictic acid (major), menegazziaic acid (major/submajor), norstictic acid (minor), hypostictic acid (trace), constictic acid (trace), cryptostictic acid (trace), atranorin (trace) and ursolic acid (trace). | ||
| This rare species is currently only known from the type locality in central coastal Qld (Proserpine district). Grows on rock. | ||
