  Thallus foliose, adnate, to 8 cm wide. Lobes crowded but sparingly imbricate, sublinear-elongate, subdichotomously branched, short, 0.3–1.5 mm wide, elobulate; cilia numerous, moderately inflated, to 0.3 mm long. Upper surface yellow-green, flat, shiny, smooth, emaculate; isidia moderately dense to dense, cylindrical, simple or sparingly branched, short. Lower surface jet black; rhizines dense, simple, black. Apothecia and pycnidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: cortex K-, UV-; medulla K-, C-, KC+ yellow, P-; containing usnic acid, 4-O-demethylbarbatic acid (major) and barbatic acid (minor).
     
  Endemic; restricted to 'dry' rainforest areas in the vicinity of Kuranda and Proserpine, north Qld. Grows on the bark of trunks and canopy branches.
