  Thallus foliose, tightly adnate, to 5 cm wide. Lobes contiguous, scarcely imbricate, linear-elongate, subdichotomously branched, 1–3 mm wide, lacking lobules; cilia sparse to moderately dense, inflated at base, short (to 0.3 mm long). Upper surface yellow-green to yellow-brown, flat to weakly convex, shiny at lobe apices, smooth but becoming cracked, weakly maculate, without isidia. Lower surface brown to dark brown; rhizines dense, simple or occasionally dichotomously branched, brown to black. Apothecia common, 1–3 mm wide; disc ±flat or shallowly concave, cinnamon-brown; thalline exciple subcoronate, ±retrorsely rhizinate. Ascospores ellipsoidal, 7–9 × 3.5–4.5 µm. Pycnidia common, punctiform, flat to slightly emergent, to 0.05 mm wide. Conidia bifusiform, 6–8 × 1 µm. CHEMISTRY: cortex K-, UV-; medulla K+ yellow, C-, P+ orange; containing usnic acid, stictic acid (major), norstictic acid (minor), constictic acid (minor), cryptostictic acid (trace), hypostictic acid (trace) and atranorin (trace).
     
  Very rare, endemic; known only from the type locality in the north Qld hinterland. Grows on bark.
