Xanthoparmelia chudalupensis (Elix) O.Blanco, A.Crespo, Elix, D.Hawksw. & Lumbsch
     
  Taxon 53: 967 (2004); Neofuscelia chudalupensis Elix, Mycotaxon 71: 435 (1999). T: Western Australia: Mt Chudalup, 17 km SSE of Northcliffe, 34°46'S, 116°05'E, 185 m, on granite rock in large rocky outcrop with scattered shrubs ion depressions, J. A. Elix 41152, H. T. Lumbsch & H. Streimann, 14 September 1994; holo: CANB.  
     
  Thallus minutely foliose to subcrustose, saxicolous, loosely adnate to adnate, 1-2 cm wide.  Lobes not imbricate, separate, sublinear, subdichotomously to irregularly branched, 0.2-0.6 mm wide.  Upper surface  dark brown to black-brown, convex, shiny, lacking isidia and soredia, becoming areolate in thallus centre.  Medulla white.  Lower surface ±canaliculate, black; rhizines sparse to moderately dense, robust, ±becoming expanded and hapterate, black.  Pycnidia and apothecia not seen. CHEMISTRY: Cortex K-, HNO3+ pale to dark blue-green, medulla K+ pale dull yellow, C-, P+ orange-red; containing fumarprotocetraric acid (major), protocetraric acid (minor).
     
  Known only from the type locality on south-western W.A.
