| Thallus small-foliose, adnate, to 5–7 cm wide. Lobes imbricate, sublinear-elongate, irregularly branched, 0.2–0.8 (–1) mm wide; laciniae often developing in thallus centre, finely branched, subascending, 0.1–0.4 mm wide. Upper surface yellow-green, darkening with age, shiny at least near lobe apices, emaculate, smooth, without soredia; isidia scattered, cylindrical, 0.1–0.3 mm high, becoming dense and coralloid-branched in older parts of thallus; isidia apices syncorticate. Medulla white. Lower surface shiny, black; rhizines sparse, simple, short, black. Apothecia and pycnidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: cortex K-, UV-; medulla K+ yellow then dark red, C-, P+ intense yellow; containing usnic acid, norstictic acid and connorstictic acid. | ||
