Thallus foliose, loosely adnate, to 4 cm wide. Lobes loosely imbricate, sublinear-elongate, subdi- or subtrichotomously branched, 1.0-2.0 mm wide; occasionally with narrower laciniae along the margins or in the centre of the thallus, laciniae 0.5-1.0 mm wide. Upper surface dull yellow-green, more or less flat, emaculate, without soredia; with laminal isidia and lobules; isidia moderately dense, subglobose or rarely short-cylindrical, simple, apices epicorticate, intact, pale; lobules scattered, flattened, 0.1-0.3 mm wide. Medulla white. Lower surface shiny, smooth or rugulose, pale brown to chocolate brown, darker at apices; rhizines very sparse, simple, dark brown. Apothecia and pycnidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: Cortex K+ pale yellow, medulla K-, C-, KC+ rose, P-; containing atranorin (minor), usnic acid (minor), norlobaridone (major), loxodin (minor). | ||
