Xanthoparmelia isidiotegeta Elix & Kantvilas
     
  Mycotaxon 71: 89 (1999). T: Tasmania, dolerite cliffs at summit of Mt Direction, 42°49'S, 147°19'E, 441 m, on sheltered rock ledges, G. C. Bratt 72/644, 8 July 1972; holo: HO.  
     
  Thallus small-foliose to foliose, moderately adnate to adnate, to 3-6 cm wide. Lobes imbricate, sublinear to sublinear-elongate, subirregularly to dichotomously branched, 0.2-1.2 mm wide.  Upper surface pale yellowish green, mostly flat, shiny, emaculate, smooth, lacking soredia; lobe marginsoften blackening near apices, sometimes appearing ciliate; isidia moderately dense, cylindrical, simple or branched and becoming coralloid, with apices syncorticate and intact, ±blackening.  Medulla white.  Lower surface black; rhizines moderately dense, ±projecting beyond margins and resembling cilia, simple or rarely dichotomously branched, to 2 mm long, black.  Apothecia and pycnidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: Cortex K-; medulla K+ yellow, C-, KC-, P+ orange-red; containing usnic acid (major), stictic acid (major), constictic acid (minor), cryptostictic acid (minor/trace), norstictic acid (minor).
     
  Known from Qld, N.S.W., Vic., Tas. and the South Island of New Zealand.
