Thallus small-foliose to subcrustose, tightly adnate, to 3 cm wide. Lobes barely imbricate or not so, flat, sublinear to subirregular, irregularly branched, 0.5-1.0 mm wide, lacking laciniae. Upper surface yellow-green or darkening with age, dull, shiny towards the lobe apices, emaculate, lacking soredia; older lobes with tangential or irregular cracks, becoming areolate, isidiate; isidia cylindrical, simple or sparingly branched, with apices syncorticate, not inflated, ±eroding but not sorediose. Medulla white. Lower surface pale brown to brown, darker at the apices; rhizines sparse to moderately dense, simple, concolorous. Apothecia and pycnidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: Cortex K+ pale yellow; medulla K+ yellow then red, C-, P+ yellow; containing atranorin (minor), usnic acid (minor), norstictic acid (major), connorstictic acid (trace), methyl pseudonorstictate (trace), constipatic acid (major), protoconstipatic acid (major). | ||
