Xanthoparmelia lumbschii (Elix) Elix
     
  Mycotaxon 87: 400 (2003); Paraparmelia lumbschii Elix, Mycotaxon 59: 413 (1996). T: Western Australia.  Yilliminning Rock, 18 km NE of Narrogin, 32°57'S, 117°22'E, 320 m, on large exposed granite outcrop, J. A. Elix 41066, H.. T. Lumbsch & H. Streimann, 12 Sept.1994; holo: CANB; iso: HO.  
     
  Thallus saxicolous, adnate to loosely adnate, 1-2 cm diam.  Lobes slightly imbricate, sublinear, subirregularly to subdichotomously branched, narrow, 0.5-1 mm wide.  Upper surface grey, blackening, flat, white-maculate, smooth and shiny towards the lobe apices, cracked and dull in thallus centre, isidiate; isidia sparse to dense, globose becoming cylindrical, simple at first but becoming coralloid-branched, inflated especially at the apices; isidia apices epicorticate, intact.  Medulla white.  Lower surface pale tan; rhizines sparse, simple, concolorous.  Pycnidia and apothecia not seen. CHEMISTRY: Cortex K+ yellow; medulla K+ yellow-red, C-, P+ orange; containing atranorin, barbatic acid (major), 4-O-demethylbarbatic acid (minor).
     
  Known only from the type locality on south-western W.A.
