| Thallus saxicolous, adnate to loosely adnate, 1-2 cm diam. Lobes slightly imbricate, sublinear, subirregularly to subdichotomously branched, narrow, 0.5-1 mm wide. Upper surface grey, blackening, flat, white-maculate, smooth and shiny towards the lobe apices, cracked and dull in thallus centre, isidiate; isidia sparse to dense, globose becoming cylindrical, simple at first but becoming coralloid-branched, inflated especially at the apices; isidia apices epicorticate, intact. Medulla white. Lower surface pale tan; rhizines sparse, simple, concolorous. Pycnidia and apothecia not seen. CHEMISTRY: Cortex K+ yellow; medulla K+ yellow-red, C-, P+ orange; containing atranorin, barbatic acid (major), 4-O-demethylbarbatic acid (minor). | ||
