Thallus small-foliose to subcrustose, saxicolous, tightly adnate, 1-2 cm wide. Lobes congested, sublinear, irregularly branched, 0.2-0.4 mm wide, without lobules. Upper surface yellow-green, darkening with age, flat or weakly convex, dull, emaculate, commonly areolate towards thallus centre, lacking soredia; isidia moderately dense, globose, mainly simple, to 0.3 mm high, with apices epicorticate, inflated but rarely erumpent, not sorediose. Medulla white. Lower surface flat, brown, dark brown to black at apices; rhizines sparse, simple, stout, concolorous. Apothecia and pycnidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: Cortex K-; medulla K-, C-, KC+ rose, P-; containing usnic acid (major), norlobaridone (major), subnorlobaridone (minor). | ||
