Thallus foliose to subcrustose, tightly adnate, to 7 cm wide. Lobes contiguous, flat, subirregular, becoming irregularly buckled and distorted, irregularly branched, 0.7-2.0 mm wide, laciniae lacking; apices ±subrotund. Upper surface yellow-green, dull, shiny towards the lobe apices, emaculate, lacking soredia and isidia; older lobes with transverse or irregular cracks, areolate. Medulla white. Lower surface pale brown to brown; rhizines moderately dense, simple, concolorous. Apothecia numerous, sessile, 1-3 mm wide, disc concave, dark brown; thalline exciple smooth, entire. Ascospores ellipsoid, 7-9 x 3.5-5.5 µm. Pycnidia common, immersed. Conidia bifusiform, 6-8 x 0.5 µm. CHEMISTRY: Cortex K-; medulla K-, P-, C-, KC-; containing usnic acid, diffractaic acid (major), barbatic acid (trace), 4-O-demethylbarbatic acid (trace). | ||
At present this species is only known from the type locality. | ||
