Thallus foliose, adnate to tightly adnate, to 3–6 cm wide. Lobes imbricate, flat, irregular to sublinear-elongate, irregularly branched, 1–2 (–3) mm wide; laciniae in thallus centre, linear-elongate, subdichotomously branched, subterete, revolute, canaliculate below, 0.2–0.5 mm wide. Upper surface yellow to pale yellow-green, shiny, emaculate, lacking soredia and isidia; lobe margins black near apices. Medulla white. Lower surface pale tan, with lobe apices often darkening to dark grey; rhizines sparse to moderately dense, simple, slender, brown. Apothecia subpedicellate, 1–3 mm wide; disc deeply concave, dark brown; thalline exciple smooth, thick, entire, involute and becoming crenulate to dentate. Ascospores 7–10 × 5–6 mm. Pycnidia common. Conidia sub-bifusiform, 5–6 × 0.5 µm. CHEMISTRY: cortex K-, UV-; medulla K+ yellow then dark red, C-, P+ yellow; containing usnic acid, norstictic acid (major), salazinic acid (major), connorstictic acid (minor) and consalazinic acid (minor). | ||
Very rare, endemic, known only from the type collection. Grows on rock. | ||
