Xanthoparmelia kondininensis (Elix) O.Blanco, A.Crespo, Elix, D.Hawksw. & Lumbsch
     
  Taxon 53: 966 (2004); Neofuscelia kondininensis Elix, Mycotaxon 47: 110 (1993). T: east of Kondinin on road to Hyden, W.A., 19 Aug. 1987, J.A.Elix 21680 & M.V.Sargent; holo: CANB.  
     
  Thallus foliose, tightly adnate, to 4–5 cm wide. Lobes barely imbricate, flat, sublinear-elongate to subirregular, 0.5–1.5 mm wide. Upper surface yellowish brown to dark brown, dull or slightly shiny, smooth at thallus margins, becoming rugulose on older lobes; isidia cylindrical, mostly simple, seldom branched, with apices syncorticate and intact. Lower surface ivory to pale brown, often darker at lobe apices; rhizines moderately dense, simple, to 0.3 mm long, pale brown. Apothecia not seen. Pycnidia rare. Conidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: cortex K-, HNO3+ dark blue-green; medulla K-, C-, KC+ rose-red, P-, UV-; containing physodic acid.
     
  A rare endemic species known only from the type locality. Occurs on rock.
