Upper surface olive- to yellow-brown or black-brown, paler at lobe apices, dull to slightly shiny at lobe apices, ±smooth at periphery, becoming rugose and fissured to subareolate centrally, without isidia. Lower surface dull, smooth to rugose, dark brown to black, paler in some parts, especially when raised from substratum, lacking rhizines, attached to substratum by loboid holdfasts. Apothecia common, sessile, 2.5–5 mm wide; disc concave, becoming flat to irregularly convex, dark brown to black; thalline exciple entire. Ascospores 8.5–11 × 4.5–6 µm. Pycnidia common.
