Thallus foliose, adnate, to 1.5–5 cm wide. Lobes ±imbricate, flat, sublinear, 0.5–1 mm wide, sometimes sparsely lobulate. Upper surface reddish brown to dark brown, somewhat paler at lobe apices, dull throughout or slightly shiny at lobe apices, weakly rugose in thallus centre, smooth at lobe apices; isidia cylindrical, simple or densely branched, 0.08–0.5 mm high, with apices syncorticate and intact. Lower surface dull, smooth, black; rhizines moderately dense, simple, to 0.3 mm long, black. Apothecia and pycnidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: cortex K-, HNO3+ dark blue-green; medulla K-, C-, KC+ rose or rose-red, P-, UV-; containing glomelliferonic acid (major), loxodellonic acid (minor) and glomellonic acid (minor). | ||
Scattered in southern Australia (W.A., S.A., N.S.W., A.C.T., Vic. and Tas.). Grows on rock. | ||
