Thallus foliose, adnate, to 2–3 cm wide. Lobes imbricate, flat, irregular, short, rounded, 1–2 mm wide. Upper surface olive-brown to dark brown, smooth and strongly shiny on lobe ends, becoming dull and cracked on older parts of thallus; isidia dense, globose then cylindrical, simple at first, expanding laterally and becoming sparingly branched; isidia apices epicorticate, becoming inflated and rarely erumpent, not at all sorediose. Lower surface dull, pale tan to brown; rhizines moderately dense, simple, to 0.3 mm long, concolorous. Apothecia and pycnidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: cortex K-, HNO3+ dark blue-green; medulla K-, C-, KC+ pink then orange, P-, UV-; containing glomelliferic, glomellic and loxodellic acids. | ||
An endemic species known from W.A., S.A., N.S.W. and Tas. Grows on soil. | ||
