  Thallus small-foliose, tightly adnate, to 5 cm wide. Lobes scarcely imbricate, separate at apices, ±contiguous towards thallus centre, irregular to sublinear-elongate, subdichotomously branched, 0.2–1.2 mm wide. Upper surface pale grey to grey, or darkening, flat, becoming dull, emaculate, smooth, without soredia; shiny and black-margined towards lobe apices; isidia moderately dense, globose to short-cylindrical, not inflated, simple, short, to 0.2 mm tall, often black-tipped, with apices syncorticate and intact. Lower surface black, often with a narrow dark brown zone at lobe margins and apices; rhizines sparse to moderately dense, simple, black. Apothecia and pycnidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: cortex K+ yellow; medulla K+ pale yellow-brown, C-, P+ red-orange; containing atranorin and protocetraric acid.
     
  A rare endemic species occurring in hinterland areas of north Qld.
