Thallus foliose, loosely to moderately adnate, forming irregular rosettes to 6 cm wide. Lobes rarely imbricate, revolute, twisted, linear-elongate, subdichotomously branched, 0.3–0.6 (–1.5) mm wide. Upper surface lead grey, black-margined towards lobe apices, convex, smooth and shiny at lobe apices, emaculate, lacking soredia and isidia; older lobes occasionally becoming cracked. Lower surface pale tan to brown, darker towards lobe apices; rhizines sparse, often grouped subapically, simple, tufted or not, concolorous. Apothecia rare, subpedicellate, to 2 mm wide; disc concave, becoming flattened, dark brown; thalline exciple thin, entire, smooth. Ascospores 7–10.5 × 4.5–6 µm. Pycnidia numerous, emergent, minute. Conidia 5.5–6.5 × 1 µm. CHEMISTRY: cortex K+ yellow; medulla K-, C-, KC-, P-; containing atranorin, 4-O-methylhypoprotocetraric acid (major), hypoprotocetraric acid (minor) and ±hypostictic acid (trace). | ||
This rare endemic species is currently known only from the type locality in south-western W.A. | ||
