| Thallus epiphyllous, usually comprising small roundish patches in vein grooves of fern pinnules, to 20 µm thick, pale to medium orange-green, smooth, matt; prothallus not apparent. Algae Phycopeltis; cells rectangular, 10–16 × 5–7 µm, forming radiating plates. Perithecia markedly convex, hemispherical or wart-shaped, 0.13–0.26 mm diam., ±concolorous with the thallus to pale orange-brown; base spreading slightly, not attenuated; apex plane to rounded, often slightly translucent when wet; ostiole inconspicuous or slightly depressed. Involucrellum extending to the base of the exciple, 20–25 µm thick, yellow-brown to pale orange-brown in thin section, K+ dark orange, containing algae (sparse towards the apex); space between base of involucrellum and exciple occupied by a loose reticulum of 2–3 µm thick hyaline hyphae. Exciple 9–14 µm thick, hyaline to pale yellow-brown. Centrum 0.1–0.18 mm wide. Asci elongate-cylindrical to narrowly obclavate, 58–90 × 10–17 µm. Ascospores ±fusiform to oblong-fusiform, 3-septate, 18–30 × 4.5–6 µm; perispore not apparent. Pycnidia not seen. |
