| Thallus epiphyllous, often forming extensive colonies, pale grey-brown to yellowish brown, continuous, matt, smooth to minutely uneven; prothallus not apparent. Algae Phycopeltis; cells angular or irregular, not forming radiating plates. Perithecial verrucae subconical to conical, 0.25–0.55 mm diam.; wall containing a layer of colourless crystals; apex with a short flat-topped cylindrical extension, pale to medium brown or orange-brown. Involucrellum apical and ±vestigial to dimidiate. Exciple c. 15 µm thick, pale yellowish brown. Asci narrowly obclavate, 80–120 × 10–14 µm. Ascospores narrowly fusiform to oblong, 7 (–9)-septate, 28–46 × 3–5 µm; perispore thin or not apparent. Pycnidia not seen. |  |

| A rather common species, mainly in north-eastern Qld, also in north-eastern N.S.W.; grows on the leaves of shrubs and trees in lowland and montane rainforest. Also in West Africa, India, Sri Lanka, SE Asia and Malesia. | ||
