| Thallus epiphloeodal, continuous to rimose, pale grey-brown to pale greenish or pale sandy brown, matt to slightly glossy, smooth to rugulose-verruculose, 30–80 µm thick, with a brown-black basal layer; prothallus usually conspicuous, dark brown to black. Algae Trentepohlia; cells 6–15 × 6–10 µm. Perithecial verrucae convex to hemispherical, 0.5–0.98 mm diam.; wall containing a layer of colourless crystals; ostiole inconspicuous or in a shallow depression; periostiolar area dark brown to black, 0.1–0.52 mm diam. Involucrellum dimidiate or extending to exciple base level. Exciple c. 20 µm thick, pale brown. Centrum 0.28–0.42 mm wide. Asci narrowly fusiform to elongate-cylindrical, 155–205 × 25–30 µm. Ascospores fusiform to elongate-fusiform, (7–) 9–11 (–13)-septate, 51–92 × 9–17 µm; perispore 2–4 µm thick or not apparent. Pycnidia not seen. |  |

| Occurs in eastern Qld; rather common on the bark of lowland rainforest trees. Also in India, SE Asia, New Guinea, the Solomon islands and New Caledonia. | ||
