| Thallus epiphyllous, forming small round or irregular patches, these sometimes confluent, medium greyish green, smooth, matt; prothallus not apparent. Algae Phycopeltis; cells oblong-angular, not forming radiating plates. Perithecia superficial, subglobose to globose and constricted at the base, 0.13–0.26 mm diam., medium to dark orange-red, dull to glossy, translucent when wet, not overgrown by the thallus. Involucrellum extending to the base of the exciple, sometimes incurved, c. 20–30 µm thick, not containing or enclosing algae, orange-brown in thin section, colour intensifying in K. Exciple c. 10 µm thick, pale yellow-brown. Asci narrowly obclavate, 50–65 × 7–11 µm. Ascospores oblong to elongate-fusiform, 3-septate, 14–24 × 3–4.5 µm; perispore not apparent. Pycnidia not seen. |  |

| Occurs in western Tas.; grows on pinnae of Blechnum wattsii in cool-temperate rainforest. A pantropical species that occasionally extends into temperate regions; its range includes Christmas Is. and New Zealand. | ||
