  Thallus epiphyllous, diffuse to continuous and forming moderately large colonies, grey-green, smooth, matt to slightly glossy; prothallus not apparent. Algae Phycopeltis; cells somewhat rounded, angular or irregular, not forming radiating plates. Perithecia hemispherical to subglobose, 0.14–0.25 mm diam., black but sometimes with the lower half initially overgrown by the thallus or appearing finely greyish-tomentose; ostiole inconspicuous or minutely papillate; periostiolar area usually glossy black. Involucrellum contiguous with the exciple and extending to exciple base level, 12–20 µm thick, brownish black or jet-black in thin section. Exciple 8–12 µm thick, brown-black. Asci narrowly to broadly obclavate or ±cylindrical, 55–75 × 9–13 µm. Ascospores fusiform to oblong, 5-septate, 20–32 × 3.5–6 µm; perispore thin or not apparent. Pycnidia not seen.
     
  Occurs in eastern Qld; grows on leaves of shrubs and trees in rainforest. A rather common pantropical species.
