  Thallus epilithic, rimose to areolate, medium grey-green to olive-green, matt, smooth, 50–150 (–200) µm thick, ecorticate; prothallus not apparent. Algae Trentepohlia; cells 8–16 × 8–12 µm. Perithecia two-thirds immersed to superficial, hemispherical to subglobose, sometimes partly overgrown by the thallus, 0.26–0.4 mm diam., dull black; apex rounded; ostiole inconspicuous or in a 20–40 µm wide depression. Involucrellum dimidiate to subentire, greenish black in thin section, contiguous with the exciple, 20–35 µm thick, not containing algae, K–. Exciple 20–30 µm thick, hyaline to pale yellow-brown at the base and sides, darker near the apex. Centrum 0.22–0.28 mm wide. Asci narrowly cylindrical, 90–118 × 12–15 µm. Ascospores elongate-fusiform to elongate cylindrical, 7 (–9)-septate, 40–66 × 4–5.5 µm; perispore usually not apparent. Pycnidia immersed, 80–120 µm diam., brown-black above, hyaline below. Conidia short- to elongate-bacilliform, 4–7 (–10) × 1.5–2.2 µm.
     
  Endemic to eastern N.S.W.; known only from the type locality where it inhabits hard siliceous rock on the bank of a river at and just above summer water level.
