Thallus epiphyllous, small and scattered or confluent and forming moderately large colonies, continuous, medium greyish green, smooth, matt to slightly glossy; prothallus not apparent. Algae Phycopeltis; cells rectangular, forming radiating plates. Perithecia superficial, convex to subhemispherical, 0.15–0.26 (–0.3) mm diam., yellowish orange or pale to medium orange-brown, rarely darker, smooth, matt to rather glossy, often translucent when wetted (especially around the ostiole); base spreading; apex ±rounded or slightly conical; ostiole inconspicuous. Involucrellum spreading, 15–30 µm thick, usually medium orange-brown in thin section, with a thin thalline covering near the base. Exciple c. 10 µm thick, pale yellow-brown. Asci narrowly obclavate, 52–64 × 8–11 µm. Ascospores oblong to narrowly fusiform or bacilliform, 3-septate, 17–26 × 2.5–4.5 µm; perispore not apparent. Pycnidia not seen. | ||
Occurs in Christmas Is., eastern Qld (especially in the north-east) and in eastern N.S.W.; grows on the leaves of shrubs and trees in lowland and montane rainforest. A common pantropical species; its range includes Lord Howe Is. | ||
