Thallus epiphyllous, often forming medium to large patches, pale greenish grey to pale yellowish brown to yellowish grey, continuous, moderately glossy, smooth to minutely uneven, usually patchily to densely and ±uniformly pilose; prothallus usually not apparent. Algae Phycopeltis; cells somewhat rounded, angular or irregular, not forming radiating plates. Perithecial verrucae convex to hemispherical, 0.3–0.8 mm diam.; surface densely pilose; wall containing a layer of colourless crystals; apex slightly concave, plane or rounded; periostiolar area concolorous with thallus to pinkish brown. Involucrellum apical and ±vestigial to dimidiate. Exciple 10–15 µm thick, pale yellowish brown. Asci narrowly obclavate, 90–120 × 10–18 µm. Ascospores elongate-fusiform to elongate-cylindrical or bacilliform, 7 (–15)-septate, 45–74 × 4–7 µm; perispore not apparent. Pycnidia not seen. | ||
Occurs in eastern Qld and north-eastern N.S.W.; a common species on the leaves of rainforest trees and shrubs. Also in India, E and SE Asia, Malesia and Melanesia. | ||
