  Thallus corticolous or lignicolous, 1.0–2.5 cm wide, thin, continuous, smooth to indistinctly areolate, whitish to pale grey or pale green, uneven or occasionally verrucose. Prothallus not apparent. Apothecia common, 0.1–0.4 mm wide, sessile; disc black, epruinose, plane or slightly convex; margin black, thin, usually persistent, becoming excluded in convex apothecia. Proper exciple dark brown to brown-black; rim more distinctly pigmented than the inner part. Epihymenium 10–20 μm thick, brown, K–. Hymenium 70–100 μm thick, not inspersed with oil droplets. Hypothecium 70–80 μm thick, brown. Asci 8-spored. Ascospores 1-septate, 12–17 × 5–7 μm, with moderately strong subapical wall thickenings and narrow septal wall thickenings; outer wall smooth. Conidia bacilliform, c. 5 × 1 μm.
CHEMISTRY: Thallus K–, C–, KC–, P–; containing ±brialmontin 1 (minor), ±brialmontin 2 (minor).
     
  This endemic species occurs on bark and wood in hinterland forest and woodland in W.A., S.A., Vic. and Tas.
