  Thallus to c. 50 µm thick, pale greyish green, dull to slightly glossy, smooth, continuous to slightly verruculose, non-rimose. Protocortex to 10 µm thick. Algal layer well developed, continuous; calcium oxalate crystals abundant, small, forming a ±continuous layer beneath the algae. Vegetative propagules not seen. Ascomata conspicuous, to c. 0.6 mm diam., mostly ±rounded, rarely slightly elongate, irregular in fused ascomata, solitary or fused, usually slightly raised. Disc completely visible from above, pale greyish to greyish brown, epruinose to slightly pruinose. Proper exciple not visible from above; thalline rim margin thick, split and ±distinctly lobed, often somewhat eroded, off-white, erect to mainly recurved. Proper exciple fused, pale brownish to pale greyish brown, non-amyloid. Hymenium to c. 60 µm thick, strongly conglutinated. Epihymenium hyaline, with a few minute ±colourless granules and small crystals. Ascus tholus and lateral walls thick when immature, becoming thin. Ascospores transversely septate, oblong to ellipsoidal, with ±rounded to narrowly rounded ends, 10–15 × 3–4 µm, with 3–6 locules; locules mostly angular, with conical to hemispherical end cells; septa thin, irregular; endospore absent.
CHEMISTRY: Thallus K+ yellowish to brown, C–, P+ orange; containing stictic acid (major), constictic acid (major), hypoconstictic acid (minor), hypostictic acid (minor), a-acetyl-constictic acid (trace).
     
  Rare in rainforest in north-eastern Qld, at altitudes to 800 m; pantropical.
