Thallus olive-greenish to pale orange, thin, smooth or moderately cracked in part, sorediate; isidia absent. Soralia laminal, irregular, usually elongate; soredia 20–50 μm diam., greenish orange to pale orange, K+ purple, eventually becoming ±corticate in part and forming coralloid pseudoisidia. Apothecia and conidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: Thallus K+ purple; containing fragilin (major), parietin (minor), ±emodin (trace), ±5-chloroemodin (trace), ±7-chloroemodin (trace), ±7-chloroparietinic acid (trace), ±7-chlorofallacinal (trace), ±7-chloroteloschistin (trace), ±fragilin bisanthrone (trace), ±physcoin bisanthrone (trace). |

Grows on bark in subtropical and tropical forest in eastern Qld and north-eastern N.S.W.; also reported from Vic., although that record cannot be confirmed. Known from Asia and Papua New Guinea. | ||
