| Thallus epiphyllous, subcuticular, rounded to irregular in outline, 5–15 mm wide, with an entire margin, pale to medium green, smooth, c. 20–35 µm thick; photobiont Cephaleuros; prothallus not apparent. Perithecia almost superficial, immersed only at the base, strongly convex to ±hemispherical, 0.3–0.5 (–0.6) mm diam., black, frequently glossy. Perithecial apex rounded; ostiole inconspicuous or in a shallow depression. Involucrellum extending to exciple base level, 20–30 (–40) µm thick. Exciple hyaline to pale brown, 8–15 µm thick. Centrum 0.20–0.35 mm diam. Paraphyses simple. Asci cylindrical to narrowly obclavate, 60–80 × 8–12 µm. Ascospores fusiform, 1-septate, irregularly biseriate, constricted at the septum, 15–22 (–25) × 3.5–6.0 µm; cells not separating, ±equal in size or the distal cell larger than the proximal. Pycnidia semi-immersed, hemispherical, glossy black, 0.10–0.15 mm diam., aggregated in the centre of the thallus; macroconidia bacilliform, 1-septate, 10–18 (–20) × 3–4 (–5) µm, often with long gelatinous appendages; microconidia not seen. | ||
